Renovated Zamek Książąt Sułkowskich
Another location to visit during your stay in Bielsko-Biała is the Zamek Książąt Sułkowskich [Sulkowski Dukes’ Castle]. It rises in the central part of the Old Town and is the former quarters of the Dukes of Cieszyń (built in the second half of the 14th century).
The castle is currently renovated and is the seat of the Historical Museum. Tourists recommend it, among other things, for its beautiful interiors. During the season, it offers a variety of exhibitions and chamber music concerts.
Other monuments – the cathedral, town hall, theater
While visiting Bielsko-Biała, you shouldn’t miss katedry św. Mikołaja [St. Nicholas’ Cathedral ] from the 15th century, which rises right next to the market square. It has an unusual tower, modeled after the bell tower of St. Mark’s Square in Venice.
Near the castle stands Teatr Polski [The Polish Theater] designed by Viennese architect Emil von Förster. In the historic center, you can also see the neo-Renaissance town hall. Its facade is adorned by bees, which symbolize industriousness.
