Bike and walking path at the Dam in Wapienica

Bike and walking path at the Dam in Wapienica

A ride or walk in the Wapienica Valley will be a good idea for a sunny day. It is the longest valley in the Bielsko-Biała area, situated between the peaks of Szyndzielnia, Trzy Kopce, Palenica and Błatnia. Within this area, there are several walking paths, which are also suitable for cycling.

The time to walk the yellow route near the dam at Wapienica is approximately 2 1/2 hours. It is an educational nature trail, which delights visitors with its picturesque, wooded Beskid hills.

The first section of the route (a large loop) is the yellow trail, which is designed for slightly less experienced tourists. On the way, you can admire the Barbara Stream and the “Barbara” forester’s lodge that was the former hunting house of Sułkowski Dukes. Further behind the forester’s lodge, there is an alley of eastern white pine, the Szyndzielnia slope reserve with streams and brooks, and the foothills of “Trzy Kopce”, among other things. The trail goes all the way to the dam reservoir.

It’s worth knowing that…

  • The yellow trail on the cycling and walking route in Wapienica starts at the parking lot by the dam, which can be reached from the town by bus number 16.
  • The blue trail is a route along the Wapienica River, which runs along a steep hill and leads, among other things, through peaks such as Wysoka, Kopany, Przykra and Błatnia.
